Andrew Phillips Identified as Victim in Deadly Albany Shooting
Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a shooting reported early Tuesday morning in east Albany.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler identified the victim as 39-year-old Andrew Phillips.
Albany Police Department officers are continuing to investigate the deadly shooting, which occurred in the 1100 block of Van Deman Street.
Andrew Phillips Identified After Albany Shooting
Police were first alerted to the incident after responding to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital at approximately 3:20 a.m.
Officers were told that a shooting victim was being treated at the hospital. That person had suffered non-life-threatening injuries and reportedly told investigators that shots had been fired in the 1100 block of Van Deman Street.
As officers investigated the reported shooting, dozens of shell casings were discovered along the 1100 block of Van Deman Street around 5 a.m.
Phillips was later identified as the person who died in connection with the shooting.
Another Person Injured
In addition to Phillips’ death, another person was injured in the incident.
Police said the injured victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities have not released additional information about the injured person or explained what led to the shooting.
