Javierkys Reyes Quevedo Obituary: 47-Year-Old Dies in Miami Cargo Plane Crash
Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47, has been identified as one of five people killed when an Amazon cargo plane overshot a runway and crashed into vehicles near Miami International Airport on Sunday.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office released the names of the victims Tuesday as federal investigators continued working to determine what caused the deadly crash.
Javierkys Reyes Quevedo Dies in Miami Airport Crash
The crash involved Amazon Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-33A operated by 21 Air LLC.
The plane had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was landing at Miami International Airport when it overran Runway 30, according to the NTSB.
The aircraft struck navigational aids before hitting a white Ford Econoline van inside the airport. Seven people were inside the vehicle.
The plane then tore through a perimeter fence and struck a Toyota Corolla Cross LE traveling on Northwest 67th Avenue.
All five people killed in the crash were inside the two vehicles.
Five People Killed in Devastating Crash
Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47, was among the five victims.
The other people killed were Rolando Aleman Leon, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, Julio C. Pineda and Carlos Acosta Fajardo.
Five others were injured. Three people remained hospitalized following the incident, with two in critical condition.
The pilot and co-pilot survived and were treated and released from a Miami hospital.
NTSB Investigates the Crash
NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said the aircraft traveled about 1,300 feet beyond the paved surface after overrunning the runway.
Investigators are now examining the circumstances of the runway overrun and the subsequent collisions with vehicles both inside and outside the airport.
The investigation remains ongoing.
